If you like SharePoint and you like Twitter you would like this
A lot of SharePointers (and of course other people) use Twitter. We also have groups on twibes like www.twibes.com/sharepoint and www.twibes.com/sharepointdevelopment. There are also ways to use Twitter in SharePoint. The problem (or opportunity) is the whole world can read your Twitter messages. What do you think about internal Twittering? Sharing short project messages with your project members or collegues?
My first project on CodePlex makes this possible: SPMessaging. It's a WebPart for MOSS2007 using jQuery for sharing short messages in SharePoint. Everybody who has (minimal) read access to your site can read the messages and write messages. If the user has a picture in his or her profile this will automatically loaded. No picture, no problem, a standard image will be shown.
The Messages will be stored in a SharePoint list. This list is automatically created after pushing the "update" button for the first time. You can customize some aspects using the WebPart properties (e.g. max items on a page, max items in a list etc.) If reaching the max items in the list (which you define in de webpart properties), the oldest item will be deleted automatically. E.g. a list does never reach more than 1000 listitems. This feature is to prevent perfomance issues.
It's a proof of concept for me working with jQuery. jQuery prevents for example a postback by browsing the pages of older messages. The current release is a beta. I will work on it (and test) in the next couple of weeks. If you have any comments, ideas, issues or whatever, please contact me.

2) Wacht op de activatie mail van Microsoft Nederland (dit kan enkele minuten duren);
3) Klik in de e-mail op “één klik en uw profiel is actief”.
4) Ga naar www.devdays.nl en login met je emailadres en gekozen wachtwoord;
5) Ga naar mijn sessievoorstel: https://www.devdays.nl/Media/Detail.aspx?id=ff7fe69c-fbd1-422f-9063-ddff77481ff6
6) Klik op de groene duim onder mijn foto om je stem uit te brengen;
Top!
Microsoft SharePoint 14 is now Microsoft SharePoint 2010
As you can read on the Microsoft SharePoint Team Blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/sharepoint/archive/2009/04/14/microsoft-sharepoint-14-is-now-microsoft-sharepoint-2010.aspx SharePoint 14 is now SharePoint 2010.
What happened to the Office piece of the name? We love MOSS. . . .
The first thing you’ll notice is that the MOSS acronym goes away with the new name since Office is no longer in the SharePoint official name. No one should worry that SharePoint doesn’t work great with Office 2010 since we removed Office from the name, just like people didn’t worry whether SharePoint was a great portal product when we removed Portal from the 2007 name.
The primary reason why we took Office out of the name - lots of folks associate the name Office with the Office client. We wanted to take the opportunity to reestablish the Office name and brand to be synonymous with the client suite. I say “Give the people what they Want” so everyone should immediately think of Microsoft Office = Office apps.
Don’t try to acronym Microsoft SharePoint Server to MSS since MSS is already taken by Microsoft Search Server. Just remember, SharePoint is SharePoint is SharePoint.
Create SharePoint WireFrame using Visio template and stencil
Today I had to create a wireframe of a SharePoint site to give the stakeholders an impression of my braindump. After some Google Results I came accross this nice link of Ferry den Dopper:
http://www.den-dopper.com/2008/10/14/visio-template-and-stencil-for-designing-sharepoint-moss-2007-portals-and-sites/ Cool for creating WireFrames in Visio!
Wildcard Proposal - E-commerce using SharePoint Commerce Services for Commerce Server 2009
Microsoft announced Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 some weeks ago. Commerce Server 2009 includes new capabilities to help you get a store-front up and running quickly. What's even more interesting is that it also includes out of the box interoperability and integration with SharePoint Server 2007.
Last weeks I figured out a lot of things about MOSS2007 and Commerce Server 2009. Now it's time to share it with all of you!
If you like to learn more about this topic, the SharePoint - Commerce Server WebParts and a demo on the coming Developer Days, give me a Thumbs Up at the DevDays09 site and help me into one of those wilcard sessions.
Important Note: You have to register on the DevDays site, regardless of whether you're not sure yet you'll go. Then wait for the activitation mail, log in and press the thumbs-up symbol next to my photo and the vote count.
Vote for me (only after registering): https://www.devdays.nl/Media/Detail.aspx?id=ff7fe69c-fbd1-422f-9063-ddff77481ff6
VSeWSS error - the response message does not match the content type
I got the following error trying to build a project of the WSS extensions for Visual Studio 1.3
You can fix it by: Add / Remove Programs and add HTTP Activation. Here's the step by step: Use Turn Windows Features On and Off in the control panel, then locate .NET Framework 3.5 and then find Windows Communication Foundation HTTP Activation. Select it and choose.
SharePoint Designer is now Free
You can download SharePoint designer from http://www.microsoft.com/SPD. Microsoft also published an open letter http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointdesigner/HA103607611033.aspx
Off course it's a good case to provide it free. More people will download and use it. From the other site Customers mostly have a licese already and it will maybe be harder to notice the real specialist.
However, Microsoft is for everybody!
MOSS2007 and Commerce Server 2009 on a single VPC
As prommised in this tread on MSDN: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/commserver2009/thread/dd7c08ad-3fe0-4c52-aaa5-f6f671715151/ I will make some more posts about SharePoint and Commmerce server. First we have to make a development environment.
1) Install a VPC (Win 2008) including MOSS 2007 as described in the following post: http://blog.sharepointdevelopment.nl/post/Installing-a-MOSS-2007-VPC-Local-Development-Environment-on-Windows-2008-Server-Enterprise.aspx
2) If you used SQL express upgrade it to SQL 2008 Enterprise. By default MOSS installation SQL express 2005 will be installed. More info about upgrading SQL Server can be read in this post: http://blog.sharepointdevelopment.nl/post/Upgrade-SQL-Express-to-Standard-or-Enterprise.aspx
3) By upgrading SQL Server it could be possible that the system has no access to a license file (.rtf). This could be possible since this file is read only. Search for the file and simply delete it. After upgrading a new file will be placed there.
4) Make sure your OfficeServers is a SQL 2008 enterprise instance
5) Also create a new instance for installing Commerce Server 2009 (I named it: MSSQL08 and choosed for build in Windows authentication).
* Before installing Commerce Server run several times Microsoft Updates to make sure you have all required updates (Note: I didn't install the December 08 Update of Moss Manualy as described in other blogs / forums)
6) Install Commerce Server 2007 and run the configuration Wizard.
* Make sure before installing you installed also the Business Client Applications of the 2007 disk, this is e.g. for managing the Catalog.
7) Install Commerce Server 2009 and run the configuration Wizard.
8) Run the SharePoint Commerce Services Configuration Wizard for the Out of the Box Site. Choose for DB the Office Servers (best you can create a new webapp for it in the Central Administration).
9) If you got an error like: NT Authority\ Network Services make sure the user of the application pool has DB creation right. I changed it to my Administrator account because the VPC is for development purposes only.
My VPC installed and configured successfully. Result: a nice MOSS2007 / CS2009 Development environment.
